Can we eat Field cricket?

Hi, I live in Canada, and I raise tropical house cricket for fun. However, it is quite difficult for me to avoid inbreeding and find new source of alive tropicl house cricket (it is not found naturally up here). Hence, I was wondering if I could mix them up with house cricket (achita domesticus) and the black fiel cricket (we find them naturally outside during summer). Could it possibly make a new cricket breed? Thank you! :)

  • They are not the same species, nor genus so chances are slim. Other than that, don't combine, one will compete with the other and in the end only 1 wins. Especially don't mix wild crickets (and their pathogens) with your captive onces.
